Default Whatever happened to "Salvaging for Ectos and Shards"?

Just before factions release, there were talks about some items able to be salvaged into ectos and shards. This is confirmed by the release of the Official guide, in which if you look in the back, lists items which are able to be salvaged into ectos, no list for shards. However, I'm pretty sure non of those items are able to turn into ectos, so the question is, WTF?

There was a certain rumor long time ago that demonic remains could be salvaged into ectos but it was incorrect far as i know.

A piece of FoW armor can salvage into either ecto or shards. GG?

The guide is wrong, just like the original Prophecies guide was wrong. Its that simple.

This topic is about drops which salvage into ecto/shards, not armors. The guide says how Demonic Remains and other useless drops from FoW/UW salvage into ecto when they do not.

this could be true, because I got amber from an amber weapon once, because it was "highly salvagable".

If that were the case then someone would have found out by now.

Wasn't it like 1 out of a 100000 chance of getting an ecto out of a remain.

I do recall a similar thread once and a guy saying that after salvaging hundreds of ancient eyes, he salvaged a glob of ecto...

The original post says nothing about items that "dropped." The only items in the game that salvage into Ecto/Shards are already-crafted pieces of FoW armor, and that's not likely to change anytime soon.

But maybe that someone never wrote in on the internet? Maybe he or she was just happy and continued playing the game.

Kamikaze, stop being a moron, its pretty understood what was meant. Anyway, about this person who managed to salvage a glob, was a thread made here in guru? Also, where did the 1/1000000 odds come from? Anyway, Yeah, I pretty much knew the guide was a bust, which was ironic seeing that ANET was very unhappy w/ the first guide, so they made the 2nd one themselves which basically just mirrored the 1st 1 in terms of usefulness, probly even less accurate.

Anyway, I was just clearing up some things, maybe someone did get an ecto or shard, probly just a myth.

There has been no actual proof of salvaging ectos from demonic remains. And until I see definitive proof, I will continue to believe that ectos can not be salvaged.

No. You've never been able to get ectos from salvaging. The guide is wrong (not exactly the first time it is, either).

No ectos.

Unless confirmed by Anet, anything is possible. Guildwiki isn't completely official now is it?

That rumor was busted MONTHHHHHHS ago. Alittle group of people salvaged 1k+ Remains each and reported they never got one.

ONE PERSON, some nobody with 1-2 posts on the forum posted in the topic and said something like "hi guys, I Salveged a Eco out fo a remins once, lawl" (all spelling was intentional). This is hardly the rock hard proof that the tester's were false.

What salvages into it

So far, only Obsidian Armor may turn into Globs of Ectoplasm when you salvage it.

I heard that something in Riverside or Sanctum Cay has the ability to drop them. The monster is out of the way, so there wouldn't be very many people going out of the way to kill the creatures.
